J Wedding: Save the Dates
One of my very, very favorite things I designed for my wedding was our save the date.
I fell in love with the idea that pieces from our wedding would be carried with us into our new life, that they last more than just the day of, exactly like our marriage.
I saw this playing out in what I planned for decor, flowers, and especially design. For our save the dates, I created a tri-fold on super thick matte paper that stands up into a triptych of pictures from our engagement. My hope is that guests can keep theirs longer than a postcard on a fridge. We will certainly have ours displayed forever!
I love that a save the date sets the tone for the whole theme of the wedding to follow. It was super important to me to lock down my direction before making these, since everything after would need to look cohesive. I picked my palette based on one of my engagement photos. Ryan proposed at one of my favorite beaches, and I knew we'd be getting married near another so I pulled those beautiful purpley tones from the ocean - lavenders and lilacs, with a shimmer of rose gold. Watercolor, hand lettering and copper ink completed the look for the envelopes.
I am my own most difficult client, so that fact that I'm still so in love with these makes me super happy!
