Merry & Bright
Is it ever too early to start thinking about Christmas? (The correct answer is a resounding NO). This year, our first Christmas, I'm determined to get a card out. That means planning now, when I still have time to design, print and ship before the post office shuts down for the holidays.
Thankfully, I have good photographer friends that I can turn to for the perfect pictures. All that was left was to start thinking about color palettes, beautiful photography, and pull some outfits together!
I'm really digging muted tones this Christmas, swapping pale blush swatches for reds, but keeping some deeper earthy tones and berry hues. Circular shapes and geometric elements mix perfectly with California foliage - cactus meets evergreen in this board! Lovely serifs feel festive and glitter adds a touch of whimsy. I'm saying farewell to my beloved copper temporarily to make way for some gold accents.
I ordered our envelopes in black, blush, cranberry and a pale mint. I think a mixture of colors is more fun than just one :) I want our cards to reflect California, a theme I plan to carry through all of my Christmas decorating. I also just received a custom stamp which I can't wait to ink in gold - it's going to add such a fun touch!
For the photos, my bestie Cate Beth snapped some amazing California themed shots in the Berkeley Botanical Gardens. We got as cozy as we could for the sunny winter we're having... which for me, meant this amazing champagne satin slip dress - it feels so festive!
It was so hard to pick just one photo to use for the cards, but I'm so happy we have these memories of our first Christmas together. Below is the final card design created with Social Print Studio.
